The turnout at the Regina Road Runners 2020 Prediction Mile was great with 20 participants plus timers and observers. The goal was to predict your running/walking time and then try to match it (no watches allowed, except for the timers). The event was run in 2 heats. Art and Vicky Bonnell coordinated the timing with participants assisting when they weren’t on the track. The larger group lead to a lot louder cheering and more high fives for the athletes as they completed each of their seven laps.
There were ties for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th but everyone won as we all had fun.
The 1st annual Kipchoge challenge took place following the Mile. Kipchoge ran a sub 2 hour marathon which is a pace of 34 seconds for 200 meters. Several participants ran as a pack to attempt that pace. The times varied from 31 seconds through to 40 seconds. Some very impressive speed!
The energy burned cheering and running/walking was restored with pizza and pop and lots of socializing afterwards
