2017 Wascana Wander all wrapped up!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Wascana Wander. It was a fun event and the generous participants made some sizable donations to good charities. I delivered the food to the Regina Food Bank and clothing to Salvation Army. There was 57 pounds of food! And another 39 pounds of clothes! I will take the library donations ($110) this weekend. Thank you!

The Wandering Kids started things off, with 4 kids from age 4 to 12 running a hilly 900 m course very quickly! Thanks to those who helped get the kids event going!

Finisher’s “medal” at Wascana WanderThe adult participants were all challenged to find 8 books on course, with a time limit of 90 minutes. They brought back pages corresponding to their bib number from each book they found. It must have been challenging – no one brought back 8 pages in time! I heard two ran up to 13 km, finding 6 books. Three folks did find 8 books and went out for a second loop, finding one of the two bonus books as well on the second loop.

I have presented the results below with lots of detail. Because there was a time limit, I tried to make it fair to those who returned on time and to those who found more books. A penalty was applied once 90 minutes elapsed and again for every time the person exceeded the average allowable time per book (9 minutes).

Pasqua Lake Trail Challenge – Still Drying Out…

What can I say? It was not the day I envisioned when planning this race. However, as Margaret surmised, despite the cold, wet, and mud, I think people had fun. Certainly it will be a day we will all remember for a long time.

Congratulations to all the runners who braved the elements and came out. You are all winners. Results are posted below. Continue reading

Get your trail shoes out and your game face on – we are now “live” to accept registrations for Pasqua Lake Trail Challenge.

There will be a tame, no hills 5 km distance that will give runners who are not familiar with trails a nice introduction. There will be two longer options that are more challenging – 7.5 km for those looking to challenge the hills of Pasqua Lake and 15 km for those looking to conquer them!
